Cold Weather Care Tips for Your Natural Hair By JENELL B STEWART

Temps are dropping and humidity wanes with each day. Due to these and other factors, many of us find it necessary to switch up our regimen
a bit so our hair plays nice with whatever the weather may bring. Don’t let the cold weather dry and damage your hair! Try these easy techniques to give your hair natural hair everything it needs until the sun comes out again.
The overall goal through this colder season is maintaining moisture, which maintains elasticity and stops breakage in its tracks. Moisture is also the key to avoiding those split ends and knots that make detangling hell on Earth and add to your breakage.

GIVE YOUR HAIR STRENGTH

Fight the elements with the ClairolPro iThrive Keratin Rescue – a system designed to repair damage and provide intense nourishment.  I’ve been using this collection  formulated with IntenseCURE™ technology. This restoring system creates a layer of protection around each hair strand to repair and protect from future damage, while providing long-lasting body and movement. Check out my video to see how I used them from start to finish and let me know what you think!

GIVE YOUR HAIR SPECIALTY TREATMENTS

One thing that I’ve found to be a good practice as it gets chilly is regular use of my hair steamer. Steaming is the perfect storm of heat (to open up the hair cuticle) and moisture (water) to give your hair just the right amount of hydration to keep it soft and healthy. Whether sitting under my hooded steamer while deep conditioning or using my handheld steamer in between washes to refresh and restyle, steaming has done wonders for my hair!

GIVE YOUR HAIR BUTTER

I’m sure you probably already love Shea Butter for your natural hair because it’s just so ridiculously good, I advise that you seal your hair especially the ends daily. It will help keep them protected from the harsh cold and winds.
If you try these 3 simple winterizing tips, you will see a lot less damage and maybe even some growth, which will come in handy when it is time to stunt next Summer.
