If you love trying new things with your hair and are looking for an adventurous style to wear on your crown, this style is for you. I chatted with the beautiful Chime Edwards of the popular
natural hair channel “Hair Crush” about what inspired this style she said, “I was inspired to create a style that screamed melanin goddess. It’s a look that would have held it’s on if it were in line with the beautiful styles from the Lemonade visual album. To me, it oozes Black girl magic.”
This look could definitely be considered hipster – perfect for Afro Punk, Coachella or any festival. “I love that it features a trendy look (pigtail buns) with traditional corn rows and long braided side burns that remind me of the gorgeous tribal styles of our homeland”, said Chime.
This is the first hair style in Chimes Back to School Hair Style Marathon where she features 5 new hairstyles daily for the high school and college naturalista.
To achieve this style, Chime used edge control and braiding hair. She went with a bold color to make this style pop. “Don’t be scared to put yourself out there and wear a new style and try something different. In high school I was apprehensive to try out new things, but it definitely pays off when you’re true to yourself. When I did it felt really good and I started trends,” says Chime. Be sure to check out Chime’s 2nd style, The Braid Cord Bun.
