Fine describes the texture of each strand of your hair. Your hair is fine if the circumference of the strands are small in diameter-thinner than a strand of thread. But every head of hair is different.
You might have lots and lots of strands or just a few. So thin hair is not always the same as fine.Fine hair is delicate and silky and bends easily when healthy. It is generally easy to straighten and you don’t have to use a lot of product to style your hair.
The challenges for this hair type are that you generally lack volume, your roots can get oily quickly and your hair tends to be easily flattened by the weight of anything.
Here are some specific suggestions for taking care of your fine hair, whatever the texture:
Baby Fine Hair:
- Shampoo just once, so you don’t overstimulate your scalp
- Clarify your hair often so you are removing any residue that might flatten it
- Decide if you need daily conditioner in the shower or if you can go for a light detangling and hydrating mist
- Soak water from hair with a light bamboo cloth. Avoid heavy terry cloth towels which will flatten your hair
- Use a Hydrating Mist to add shine and eliminate frizz on dry hair
- Switch where you part your hair is possible
- Try either a Sea Salt Spray to give a grippy texture or a Holding Spray to condition and hold hair and roots
